Five games were on the NBA schedule on Sunday, with some noteworthy performances happening in some key victories.

Tyrese Maxey did not play the most efficient game (14-for-32, 5-for-17 from distance) but his 45 points including 10 in overtime led the Philadelphia 76ers past the Indiana Pacers 118-114. Andre Drummond pulled in 17 rebounds, and former Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin had 17 points and 12 rebounds for a 76er team that still awaits the services of Joel Embiid and Paul George. Tyrese Halliburton’s 22 points led a Pacer squad that saw seven players reach double figures.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became the first player in Thunder history to record a game of at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in Oklahoma City’s 128-104 win over the Atlanta Hawks. The star guard put up 35 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Chet Holmgren (8-for-12) scored 25 points and had 9 rebounds and 6 blocks, while Jalen Williams (8-for-17) scored 20 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. For the Hawks, Trae Young put up 28 points but turned the ball over 10 times. The Thunder are 3-0.

For the Brooklyn Nets, Cam Thomas’ 32 points (10-for-21) and Dennis Schroder’s 29 (8-for-15) helped the Nets defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 115-102. Thomas, 23, is averaging 30.7 points over his first three games. He forces the issue at times but can fill it up. He is a pure scorer. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds and 7 assists and Damian Lillard scored 21 in the loss. Lillard made just one shot from downtown.

Jerami Grant’s 28 points (9-for-17) and Anfernee Simons’ 27 (5-for-10 from three-point range) led the Portland Trail Blazers past the New Orleans Pelicans in convincing fashion 125-102. C.J. McCollum scored 27 points for the road team but Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram went a combined 10-for-29 from the field (14 points apiece). Williamson attacked well as he usually does and while he did draw fouls (8-for-10 from the line), he missed on shots that he usually makes. Deandre Ayton and rookie Donovan Clingan were difficult for the Pelicans to handle. Ayton grabbed 12 rebounds while the rookie Clingan had 9 boards in just 13 minutes that led to a 51-39 rebounding advantage for the game. Interior size is not one of the Pelicans’ strengths with their rotational bigs being veteran Daniel Theis and rookie Yves Missi. Often times too the team was stuck in late clock situations.

James Harden’s 23 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds, despite him going just 2-for-12 from distance, led the Los Angeles Clippers to a 112-104 road win in San Francisco. Ivica Zubac (23 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists) played outstanding for the Clippers. Norman Powell added 20 points for a Clipper team (2-1) that plays together and has come along nicely this early in the season. Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 29 points on 11-for-15 shooting (5-for-8 from distance). Stephen Curry (6-for-11, 4-for-7 from three) finished with 18 points.
