Big 3 News: Two-Time NBA All-Star Zach Randolph Joins Trilogy

A Big 3 team that just announced a new head coach known for his toughness and grit during his NBA career just added a player who was known for the same throughout his near 20 year run.

As Big 3 co-founder Ice Cube frantically said in his 1995 hit Friday, "Here comes Deebo".

Zach Randolph, known throughout his NBA career as a below the rim force and linchpin of the "Grit and Grind" Grizzlies who was not to be trifled with, will join Trilogy as their new captain, the Big 3 announced this morning.

Randolph made the All-Star team twice in his career - both times with the Grizzlies - in 2010 and 2013. He retired on December 27, 2019 after being released by the Dallas Mavericks shortly after a February 2019 trade from Sacramento. He did not play in the 2018-19 season. In his final NBA season where he saw action (2017-18), the 38 year old Marion, Indiana native averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 59 games, at 25.6 minutes per game. His best season came as a Portland Trail Blazer in 2006-07, when he averaged 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds. In his career, he had five seasons where he averaged at least 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. It was in Memphis where he became loved as a key member of those tough Grizzlies teams that were known for their tenacity and defense, making the Western Conference Finals in 2013.

It is yet to be announced whether Jason Terry will return to Trilogy, but Randolph instantly becomes their best player and is sure to be one of the best players in all of the Big 3 this season.
