The Cleveland Cavaliers improved to 10-0 on Friday night with a dominant home victory over the Golden State Warriors 136-117. With the win, the Cavaliers are the first team to start 10-0 since the Warriors of 2015-2016.

The Cavaliers led 83-42 at halftime, and despite being outscored 75-53 in the second half, still won by 19 points.

Darius Garland (27 points, 6-for-11 from downtown) was the high man for the Cavaliers while Evan Mobley scored 23. All five Cavalier starters finished in double figures, while off the bench Ty Jerome put up 20 points in 21 minutes on 7-for-8 shooting.

The Cavaliers not only have a high quality starting five with guard scorers and playmakers and a great interior tandem in Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, but they also have quality depth with Caris LeVert, Jerome, Dean Wade, and Georges Niang. They are also still with Max Strus, who is another sniper from the outside. It was announced on October 19 that Strus would be out a minimum of six weeks with a right ankle sprain.

For a Warriors team that was coming off the high of defeating the Boston Celtics in Boston on Wednesday night, Friday was a major letdown. Stephen Curry scored 12 points on 5-for-10 (1-for-4 from downtown) in 24 minutes out of the starting group. Jonathan Kuminga in 29 minutes off the bench scored 21 on 7-for-14.

The Cavaliers shot 54 percent to the Warriors’ 48 and shot a blistering 48 percent (20-for-42) from downtown.

The Warriors, still one of the league’s early season surprises, are 7-2.
