The New York Knicks have made another big acquisition, obtaining all-star big man Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. In exchange, the Timberwolves are receiving forward Julius Randle, sharpshooter Donte DiVincenzo, and a first-round pick, via Shams Charania. DaQuan Jeffries and draft compensation is also going to Charlotte in the three-team deal.
Towns is the second big name the Knicks have added this offseason, the other being wing Mikal Bridges. The team also re-signed star Jalen Brunson and forward O.G. Anunoby during the offseason. Towns, a four-time all-star with career averages of 22.9 points and 10.8 rebounds, gives the Knicks additional shooting on the perimeter and a presence inside. He provides a contrast to Randle, who was more of a one on one player and not a great fit with Brunson.
In Randle, the Timberwolves get additional playmaking at forward. Naz Reid and Randle both can go off the dribble and hit from the outside.
